Paediatric Diabetes Nutrition & Optimisation Programme

Structured paediatric dietetic support for parents who want a deeper understanding of the factors that affect their child’s glucose levels and to feel more confident in managing diabetes day-to-day, including real-life challenges like parties, complex meals, school, sports and activity.

This programme goes beyond a single appointment, providing practical, individualised strategies grounded in paediatric diabetes practice.

Who this is for:

This programme is particularly suited to families who:
   •    notice unpredictable glucose patterns
   •    want structured support beyond one appointment
   •    would like a detailed review of meals, routines, and activity
   •    want greater confidence managing daily diabetes decisions
   •    are ready to implement realistic, sustainable changes

🌟 Why this programme is different

   •    deeper pattern review

   •    structured training & follow-through

   •    assessment of real-life responses

   •    individualised refinement

   •    brief nutritional analysis

   •    nutrient intake recommendations according to gender, age and physical activity

🔍 What’s included:

1. Pre-consultation assessment

After you book you will receive:

  • a detailed background questionnaire

  • instructions for next steps and for scheduling your consultations.

  • a 7-day food and glucose record that will be reviewed before your consultation (pre-appointment time).

2. 1:1 Initial Paediatric Dietetic Consultation (60 – 90 minutes)

A personalised session tailored to your child’s needs. Depending on agreed priorities, this may include:

  • detailed nutrition assessment

  • review of glucose patterns (CGM/ Pump)

  • support with carbohydrate counting (including Level 3 and Advanced bolus approaches where appropriate)

  • everyday diabetes management (school, activity, routines)

  • diabetes & exercise management

  • realistic nutrition and lifestyle goal setting

Not all areas are covered in one session – the focus is agreed together.

Please book your first appointment on a date that is at least 1 week after booking, so you can complete a food and glucose diary.

The follow up appointment will be booked after your initial consultation.

3. In-depth pattern analysis & professional review

I will review your child’s emerging patterns (according to available CGM/pump uploads),

including observations from the food diary. This ensures guidance is based on real-life data and practical observations – not generic advice.

4. Personalised written action plan

You’ll receive a clear written summary highlighting:

   •    key observations
   •    agreed priorities
   •    practical next steps
   •    areas to monitor / review together

5. Follow-up review consultation (30 minutes)

We review:
   •    what is working well
   •    ongoing challenges
   •    areas that may benefit from further review

⚠️ Important note

The follow up appointment must be booked within 6 weeks of the initial consultation. All guidance is individualised and based on the information available at the time of consultation. This programme complements – and does not replace – your child’s diabetes medical team.
